SEO for Electricians

Electrician SEO That Gets Measured in Jobs, Not Just Rankings

Electrician SEO is the work that gets an electrical contractor found on Google Maps, in the organic results and in AI answers when someone searches for a panel upgrade, an EV charger or an electrician near them. It covers the Google Business Profile, one page per job type, real city pages, reviews and a website Google can index. For Kinetic Electric, search appearances went from 753 to 1,062 in a month, and we report the clicks that didn't follow just as plainly.

What SEO for Electricians Covers

Electrical work splits into urgent calls, like a dead circuit or a burning smell at the panel, and planned jobs, like panel upgrades, EV chargers, lighting retrofits and commercial work. The planned jobs carry the bigger tickets, and they get researched on the website before anyone calls.

Google says local results are based on relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is whether your profile and site clearly say you do the job someone searched. Distance is how far you are from them. Prominence is what Google knows about you from across the web, including reviews and links. You can't move your shop, so the work goes into the other two.

So we build one page per job type you want more of, keep the Google profile's services list matched to real work, ask for reviews on every job and reply to all of them. Residential and commercial get separate pages, because a property manager and a homeowner search differently.

Service Pages, City Pages and Your License

Each page has to use the words people type for that job. On a plumbing site we found only 18 of the top 30 keywords anywhere in the copy and got it to 29. Electrical sites miss the same way. City pages should carry real jobs and local detail. Google's spam policies name pages targeted at specific cities that funnel visitors to one page as an example of doorway abuse.

In California, electrical work falls under the CSLB C-10 Electrical Contractor classification. We pull the record before the license number goes on the site, the profile or the schema, and make sure the business name matches everywhere.

How Long It Takes and What It Costs

Search appearances can move within the first couple of months, as Kinetic's did. Clicks and calls follow when pages climb into the top few results, and competitive searches in a big metro often take six months or more. On our plumbing accounts the Google Maps top 3 coverage nearly doubled in three months when the profile had been neglected.

Published contractor marketing prices we checked in October 2026 ran from $249 a month for a website and SEO bundle to $11,000 or more for a full program. Most full-service retainers sat between about $2,600 and $7,750 a month. The full table is in our contractor marketing agency cost guide.

How We Measure Electrician SEO

The monthly report shows the early signs and the result side by side, so a good-looking number can't hide a bad one.

  • Search appearances, average position and clicks from Search Console, reported together. Kinetic's appearances rose while clicks fell, and the report said so.
  • Map grid scans for your main electrical searches, on the same grid every month.
  • Keyword coverage. How many of your top 30 keywords by volume appear on your site, before and after.
  • Calls from the website and Google profile, matched to jobs in your CRM by phone number, the same way we match Kinetic's Field Pulse export.
  • AI answers. Whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI name you for the searches we track.

The setup is covered in call tracking and CRM integrations.

Red Flags When Hiring an Electrician SEO Company

A few questions sort out most of them.

  • They promise a ranking or a number of leads. Nobody controls Google.
  • The report shows appearances going up and never mentions clicks or calls.
  • One services page for every kind of electrical job.
  • Review gating, where only happy customers get the link. It breaks Google's review policy.
  • The agency owns the domain, the site or the Google profile. All of it should be in your name. Ours always is.

What DG Agency Charges

Retainers start at $5,000 a month for electrical contractors doing $1M or more. That covers SEO, your Google Business Profile, Local Services Ads, citations, reviews and Yelp, because they all feed the same rankings. 90-day minimum, then month to month with 30 days' notice. If there is no measurable result in 90 days, you get your retainer back. You own the profile, the domain, the site and the tracking numbers. A new website is a separate project starting at $5,000, see website design. Full details on the pricing page.

How do you know SEO is producing jobs for an electrician?

+

Track it to the job. Tracking numbers on the website, Google profile call reporting and leads matched to the CRM by phone number. For Kinetic Electric we match the Field Pulse export to leads every month, so the owners see invoiced dollars by source.

Does an electrician need special SEO for Google's AI Overviews?

+

Google says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page has to be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. ChatGPT and Gemini work separately, so we track them on their own.
